Management Information
Tu (2000) states that manual and mechanical, environmental/cultural, and chemical methods are all useful to varying degrees in controlling M. vimineum. For more details please see management information.
Location Specific Management InformationConnecticut Hand pulling may be effective in small populations, but seems futile for large populations since it is difficult to eliminate the seed sources. It is important to attack small infestations as soon as possible, and to attack them vigorously (Elizabeth Farnsworth, in Tu, 2000). Maryland (USA) Burning is not effective in controlling M. vimineum (Donnelle Keech, in Tu, 2000). Rothrock State Forest A study of various herbicides found that Sethoxydim gave the best results with suitable ground cover remaining.
