Saint Helena Local control undertaken by farmers, graziers, conservationists and Agriculture and Natural Resources Department. Extreme terrain makes site access difficult. Short term control in forestry is to cut stands before flowering, in a good growing year this may need to be carried out three times. Incursions into pasture can be sprayed with a selective herbicide, trichlopyr has been found effective. Plants growing in dense stands can be killed with glyphosate. Massive seed bank and rapid growth on disturbed ground make mechanical removal the least preferred control method, though plant is relatively easily uprooted. Integrated programme of small scale removal and dense restoration planting is being trialled in conservation areas.
