Reunion (La Réunion) Furcraea foetida is subject to ongoing control in order to contain the invasion. The main management method is based on the fact that this plant belonging to the Agavaceae family blooms only once in its lifetime. Cutting the flowering stem helps prevent a new colonization by its bulblets in nearby areas. Provided that management is perfectly synchronised with the flowering period, this method allows for a reduction or at least control of the invasion (Hivert, 2003). Tahiti Is.
