維多利亞DNR(2001)報告說：類扁豆(Dipogon lignosus)是入侵植物，非常嚴重地威脅到原生植被。它的種子很容易發芽，是一個生命力強的攀爬者，並會窒息本地植被..。類扁豆(Dipogon lignosus)會爬過灌木和樹木，窒息和破壞它們。它也會長滿地面，窒息原生地被植物。由於氮固定器中，類扁豆(Dipogon lignosus)會固定氮，可以增加土壤肥沃度，鋪平了其他雜草入侵的康莊大道。(歐羅博達拉郡議會, 2004)。

降低本地生物多樣性: Several naturalized species still present are notorious for their capacity to overrun existing vegetation. D. lignosus is one of these species. It is now apparent that D. lignosus and other species were kept in check by the feral goats that roamed the island before it was declared a Nature Reserve in December 1987 (Heyligers and Adams, 2004).
