    Competition: The Catalina Deer Mouse (Peromyscus slevini) is listed as 'Critically Endangered (CR)' in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species; it is also listed as 'Endangered' by the Mexican Government. It occurs on Santa Catalina Island. All known individuals are found on one single location; the species has an extent of occurrence of less than 100 sq Kms. Populations are under threat of competition with the introduced Northern Baja Deermouse (Peromyscus fraterculus) (Álvarez-Castañeda & Castro-Arellano 2008)
