    Predation: Native to Costa Rica and Panama Dice's Cottontail (Sylvilagus dicei) is listed as Data Deficient (DD)' in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. Little is known about this species, habitat loss, fire and predation by introduced predators like the non-native coyote (Canis latrans) are some of the potential threat to this species. Coyotes have spread to this region as a result of natural expansion following cattle spread (Smith & Boyer 2008)
