    Competition: Native to parts of Brazil the 'Endangered (EN)' buffy-headed Marmoset (Callithrix flaviceps) and the 'Vulnerable (VU)' buffy-tufted-ear Marmoset (Callithrix aurita) are the southern most form of Marmosets in terms of range for the genus. The buffy-headed Marmoset is native to the Brazilian states of Espírito Santo, Minas Gerais and the buffy-tufted-ear Marmoset to the states of Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo. They are under threat by loss of habitat, hunting for the pet trade and competition and hybridisation from other introduced species of Marmosets namely the black-pencilled Marmoset (Callithrix penicillata); common Marmoset and the Geoffroy’s tufted-ear Marmoset (Callithrix geoffroyi) (Rylands et al 2008a,b)
