    Menace pour les espèces en danger: Melinis minutiflora is reported to be responsible for outcompeting the endemic grass (see Sporobolus durus in IUCN Red List of Threatened Species), which is now feared extinct (George and White, 2003 in Varnham, 2006; Gray, 2003).
