In a few years, it invaded the entire island to 1000 metres above sea level, causing extensive damage to sugar-cane fields and destroying native plants. Occurs in: agricultural areas, urban areas Geographical range Native range:Hoplochelus marginalis is endemic to Madagascar. Known introduced range: The species has been introduced to La Réunion where it is very common.
