    Management Notes for this Location:
    M. vison was eradicated from Hiiumaa Island in 1998. The estimated population size was 50 (Macdonald et al. 2002). A variety of traps were used with varying degrees of success: initially the "Conibear-type" trap was used with commercially produced mink lures, then locally-built wooden live traps with local fish bait, but neither had great success rates. The eradication was successfully completed using modified leg-hold traps. The endangered European mink (Mustela lutreola) has since been reintroduced (MacDonald and Harrington, 2003).
    Location Notes:
Hiiumaa Island (1000 km²) is located in the Baltic Sea, 22km from the Estonian mainland (MacDonald and Harrington, 2003).
