Détails de cette espèce dans Isle of Man Statut: Exotique Statut d'envahissement: Non indiqué Occurrence: Signalé(e) Source: Charter, 2004 in Varnham, 2006 Date d'introduction: Probably mid-20thC or earlier Mode d'Introduction: Notes sur l'espèce pour cette localité: Japanese knotweed, Fallopia japonica (Polygonum cuspidatum) is a garden escapee; and possibly imported on plant and cars. The plant is spreading along rivers and could spread a lot further along its existing river corridor stations. Ecological impacts recorded are relatively minor; it has displaced native riparian species, or at least reduced their density, alongside parts of river and stream valleys throughout the Island, but has rarely taken over completely. There is a high potential for serious impact on the main river corridors. F. japonica may be dispersed on discarded rubble; linear roadworks; garden refuse; also it is naturally good at spreading (Charter, 2004 in Varnham, 2006). Notes sur la gestion de l'espèce dans cette localité: The Forestry Division is engaged in control trials. Action for raising awareness about the risks of spread include: a workshop being held; an information leaflet produced and publicly available; radio article; newspaper article; plant added to Injurious Weeds Act; spread in the wild legally prohibited under Wildlife Act; continuous updating of database; continued control trials and advice to landowners; possible more workshops and articles; factsheet will be updated as and when necessary (Charter, 2004 in Varnham, 2006). This plant needs to be prevented from sale and from spread in the wild; current extent needs reducing; may be impossible to removed altogether (Charter, 2004 in Varnham, 2006).
