    In Mexico, monitoring has been done on changes in planktonic and benthic communities in waters flowing into and out of impoundments (the primary target of control) and of herbicidal (2,4-D) residues in water, sediment and tissues of edible fish species (Gutierrez et al. 1996 in ESA 2000).
