Details of this species in Isle of Man Status: Alien Invasiveness: Invasive Occurrence: Reported Source: Varnham 2006 Arrival Date: Believed to be 1986 Introduction: Species Notes for this Location: The European red fox probably did not occur naturally on the Isle of Man, but was present in small numbers in the mid 19th century. It was introduced again in the 1980s, and in 1990 the population was estimated to be 120 to 300 individuals. Management Notes for this Location: MacDonald and Halliwell (1994, in Varnham 2006) recommend formulating contingency plans to limit the impact of the fox on rare ground-nesting birds.
