It was re-introduced into the country from the Russian Federation in 1982. Hybrids are being bred in the country (from the introduction of two strains of Hungarian common carp (mirror and scale) to Vietnam in 1969 and 1975, respectively, caused significant changes in the hybridisation and selection programme of common carp in Vietnam; hybrids of Vietnamese carp and Hungarian carp are fast growing in pond culture, fetching good income for fish farmers. Hybrids of Hungarian carp, Vietnamese carp and Indonesian carp show fast growth, high disease resistance and stable genetic characteristics (FishBase 2009). Management Notes for this Location:
