Notes sur l'espèce pour cette localité:
In Vanuatu, Chazeau & de Larbogne (1999 in Wetterer & Porter, 2003) found that on Vanua Lava, around the towns of Sola and Mosina, W. Auropunctata infested houses, gardens, and taro fields.
Notes sur la gestion de l'espèce dans cette localité:
Currently, officials in Vanuatu are very concerned about the prospect of this ant spreading throughout the archipelago, and are seeking international assistance in learning ant identification (L.Nimoho, pers. comm. to JKW, 2001). Exportation of agricultural products from infested islands in Vanuatu has been temporarily forbidden (Rapp 1999, Anonymous 2000) (Wetterer & Porter, 2003).
    Notes sur la localité:
    Impacts:
Réduction de la biodiversité indigène: A striking lack of butterflies has been noted on the island of Vanua Lava. This is compared to Mota Lava, which is free of W. Auropunctata and has abundant butterflies (J. Tennant, pers. comm. in Wetterer & Porter, 2003).
