    The density of Molothrus bonariensis (shiny cowbirds) in lowland St Lucia is about six individuals per km². The distribution of shiny cowbirds may be related as much to the availability of food from agriculture as the availability of hosts.

    Reduction in native biodiversity: The main hosts of the shiny cowbird in St Lucia are the black-whiskered vireo (Vireo altiloquus) and the yellow warbler (Dendroica petechia).
