Management Notes for this Location: Environmental Health Section of the Government maintains a rodent control program (Morgan, 1994 in Varnham, 2006) in populated areas only. Impacts: Reduction in native biodiversity: Black rat, Rattus rattus, is implicated in the extinction of a number of native species of small mammals, birds and reptiles (Morgan, 1994 in Varnham, 2006).
