    Species Notes for this Location:
    Black rats, Rattus rattus are only definitely known from New Island. Recorded in two 10km squares. There is llikely to be no change in population levels.
    Management Notes for this Location:
    Selective trapping & research programmes are ongoing. Further selective trapping & possible control is being considered/required. Eradication from all New Island may be considered in future.

    Habitat alteration: Black rats may have impacts on vegetation.
    Reduction in native biodiversity: Black rats have major adverse impacts on seabird and songbird populations.
