    Species Notes for this Location:
    Mozambique tilapia (Oreochromis mossambicus) were introduced via a governmental programme to increase fisheries production. Has been stocked in almost every water system in the state, with variable success. High population growth in some habitats has resulted in displacement of other fish species. This has had more of an effect in the closed ecosystems of ponds, rather than in the open ecosystems of rivers.
