    Macfadyena unguis-cati was introduced as an ornamental species.
    Management Notes for this Location:
    Charidotis auroguttata (Coleoptera) was introduced as a biological control agent in 1996 after mechanical and chemical control methods were proven to be unsuccessful. No herbicides are registered for use on the species in this country (Williams, 2002).

    Impacts:
    Habitat alteration: Macfadyena unguis-cati has severly degraded some of the indigenous forest on the Westfalia Estate of the Hans Merensky Foundation and is currently threatening the indigenous forest of the Grootvadersbosch of Magoebaskloof (Williams, 2002).
