Cecropia peltata was introduced to the Ivory Coast in 1910 as a shade tree for coffee plantations. It has since spread through disturbed areas (Bingelli, 1999). By the late 1950s it had only spread 20 km. However, following forest destruction its rate of spread increased and by the 1960s it had reached sites 100 km away (Bingelli et al, 1998). 影響：
