    Competition: In Mauritius, where they are now the most adundant bird species, common mynas compete successfully for nesting sites with the endangered and endemic Mauritius or echo parakeet (see Psittacula eques in IUCN Red List of Threatened Species) (Long 1981, Lever 1987).
