DEMONSTRATION PROJECTS

Demonstration Projects are key to the PII achieving its goal. Whilst other activities, unrelated to Demonstration Projects, are undertaken as part of the PII (such as inputs to publications, conferences and training programmes) carefully selected Demonstration Projects provide opportunities to focus on specific management objectives “on the ground” (or “in the water”). It is this focus on facilitating action against invasive species issues and building management capacity within communities that makes the PII unique in the Pacific.

The PII regularly identifies Demonstration Project through its partner network. Selected Demonstration Project usually involve an on-site feasibility study undertaken by recognised experts and the subsequent development of a Project Design Document. Once projects have been confirmed to be feasible and have been designed, they are then promoted through the PII partnership for appropriate institutional support and funding.

PII has established a Demonstration Project Development and Implementation Process to advance submitted proposals. It can be seen as a PDF-File here. Progress at PII-supported demonstration projects has been made. to view the progress table master here. new.gif
